Gallipoli Music Memorial 2015

GMM News

Gallipoli Music Memorial 2015 (GMM2015) celebrates the little-known stories and artworks of creative artists, including the composer William Denis Browne of the Royal Naval Division (RND), who fought in the Third Battle of Krithia, Gallipoli, on 4th June 1915.

The RND was based in Blandford Forum, Dorset, where nine schools worked with GMM2015 to create learning resources about the artists at Gallipoli and the postwar reconciliation between combatants.

The ensign (flag) of the Hood Battalion, RND, hangs in Blandford Parish Church. GMM2015 commissioned the textile artist, Ghislaine Peart, to create a large banner, now displayed in the church, to tell the story of the RND’s journey from Blandford to Gallipoli. See pictures
